There is a place
that appears much like the material world. It appears to obey physical law, its trappings are familiar, its nature understandable. But so much of it is filled with an unmistakable wrongness, where the simplest structure seems to flirt with impossibility out of the corner of the eye. It houses strange shadows of the common, and tormented and feral things that defy easy explanation. There was no poet guide to explain the nature of the descent, and with each step lower the rules of causation slip away.
